PHOTOS FROM MITRIDATE MOUNT!

Mitridate Mount at 94 meters dominates the central city of Kerch.   The steps in the photo above lead to a splendid, birds-eye view of this 53 kilometer long port city.

At the peak of Mitridate Mount are two monuments to the events of the Greet Patriotic War (what in the USA we call WWII).

Bridal parties often assemble here.  Following the wedding ceremony, brides & grooms drink a toast as a tribute to the veterans.  Brides leave behind the bridal bouquet as a token.

Above is a photo of the local bathing facility: the city pool!

It’s open year round & despite wind & cold, local people will swim daily!

The capital of the Bosporan kingdom was here in ancient Kerch.  On Mitridate Mount there are ruins being excavated dating from the 6th Century.

There are 10 ancient sites & 1,500 burial mounds in the immediate area.
